2020 ATA Convention

Presidents Challenge 2020

The Presidents challenge is a Raccoon, any kind of form or , life-size.

 Novice, for those who have never entered competition before,  your critique will be not be as hard.

 Professional,  This is for the true beginning to really learn critiques and judging are harder for the person wanting to really learn and improve their work.

Masters, This is for the taxidermist that has won two blue ribbons of Best of show in the category, judging and learning is even harder.

JudgesBilly Ollie will judge birds & waterfowl, Vince Spellane will judge whitetails & fish and Jason Krause will judge lifesize & gamehead

Please call this number only for reservations to insure all rooms gets credited to the block reserved for the ATA.  We must reserve a certain number of rooms in order to waive the charge for the facility.  We would appreciate it if you don’t use a 3rd party reservation site such as Expedia, Trivago, Booking.com, etc. because the ATA doesn’t get credit for the room.

Friday, February 28

8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m-Set up (HELP NEEDED)

8:00 Am-noon -Suppliers set up

9:00-noon -Registration

10:00Am- noon -Competitors check- in mounts

10:00Am-noon -Supply Area Open

9:30AM-noon –SEMINAR #1:  Billie Ollie- “Mounting a Duck

noon-1:00PM-Lunch

1:00PM-5:00Pm-Registration and mount check- in continues

1:00PM-5:00Pm -Supply Area Open

1:00Pm-3:00PM-SEMINAR #2:  Vince Spellane- “Whitetail Mounting Techniques”                      

3:00pm-5:00Pm-SEMINAR #3:  Jason Krause- “Mounting a Snake

5:00Pm-7:30pm- Pizza Social followed by Business Meeting with Elections

7:30pm-?? -SEMINAR #4:  $20 Entry Fee- “Gamehead Mounting Contest”  Bring your mounting stands and all materials.  Have forms prepped and ears unfinished. Bondo or earliners must be finished during contest. It’s ok to pre-fit earliners. Artificial noses must be completed during contest. Mounts must be completed within 3 hours. Contestants will be given 30 minutes the next day to make adjustments. Then the audience chooses the best looking mount AND panel of judges chooses best looking mount. 1/2 of entry fees collected will go to people’s choose winner & 1/2 will go to the winner chosen by judges.
